ABS Biotechnologies has developed an epicardial cell-derived conditioned medium (EPI) that promotes the maturation of human iPSC-derived cardiomyocytes through a simple, scalable supplementation strategy. Easily incorporated into existing differentiation and maintenance workflows, EPI enables the generation of more mature cardiomyocytes without requiring complex co-culture systems or protocol modifications.
EPI enhances key electrophysiological and functional properties of hiPSC-derived cardiomyocytes, resulting in more physiologically relevant and reproducible assay outcomes. This supports improved disease modelling, drug discovery, and cardiovascular safety testing by increasing the predictive value of in vitro cardiac models while helping to reduce reliance on animal studies.
